If you blinked, you missed it.
On March 21, Apple quietly released a new iPad, tinkered with its iPhone line and released a spring color line of Watch bands.
Simply deemed “iPad”, these tablets are slightly thicker and a tad heavier than the iPad Air and iPad Pro 9.7, but come at a more affordable price point. These new iPads offer a generous 8MP camera, up to 10 hours of battery life and come in silver, gold and space gray.
- 32GB Wi-Fi — only $329
- 128GB Wi-Fi— only $429
- 32GB Wi-Fi with cellular — only $459
- 128GB Wi-Fi with cellular — only $559
It’s not compatible with the Apple Pencil or iPad Keyboard — however, the form factor has changed enough that a new protective case may be necessary. The new name, which harkens back to the classic iPad versions and drops the “Air” moniker, may cause some confusion at first, but the speed of the A9 processor, upgraded Wi-Fi and LTE networks, and Touch ID is completely contemporary.
Additionally, Apple has now limited the iPad mini 4 availability to 128GB capacity and lowered the price.
- 128GB Wi-Fi — only $399
- 128 Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi with cellular — only $529
Changes weren’t only limited to the iPad.
Apple also introduced its first PRODUCT(RED) iPhone. Since 2006, when the first (PRODUCT)RED iPod nano debuted, Apple has donated a portion of its profits of PRODUCT(RED) gear to help fight the global AIDS epidemic. Not since the release of the 2012 (PRODUCT)RED iPod Touch has Apple offered more than distinctively crimson accessories as part of the project.
This newly vibrant aluminum finish of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus is available with 128GB and 256GB capacities.
iPhone SE also saw a minute change in capacity with 32GB and 128GB capacity instead of the 16GB and 64GB capacities of prior iPhone SE models.
In addition, Apple has released new colors of the Sport, Woven Nylon, and Leather bands for spring. They have added some lovely striped Woven Nylon bands, and vibrant colors in Leather.
