Ask Max: Recovering iPhoto in OS X

Asked on 09/28/2015:

iPhoto disappeared with my library of photos when it was replaced by  another version by a different name. I've seen many similar questions/comments online, but haven't been able to find a version that's
suitable for my operating system. Can you help?

Thank you for writing into Ask Max.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover iPhoto (the application) without installing a previous version of OS X. With the upgrade to 10.10.4, iPhoto became obsolete, and Apple replaced it with their Photos App. It's organized differently, but all your pictures are still there. All your events are, too -- under a special iPhoto section, which you should see from the left sidebar.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any further questions or concerns.

Have a lovely day.
