Ask Max: Adding A Delete Button To Preview

Asked on 10/14/2008:

I often use Preview to view my photos after downloading from my camera. Is there any way to include a delete button in my toolbar for Preview since it's not offered in the Customize Toolbar options when viewing photos? Could a Terminal command be written for this?

I looked around to see if there is a way to add a delete button to Preview but it would take major editing of the Preview application to add that. Fortunately there is a keyboard combination that could effectively do what you want. In Preview, when you are viewing the image you want to send to the trash, you only need to press the [command] key and [delete] key together. The image will then be sent to the trash.
