Apple successfully launched its tenth-anniversary flagship, the iPhone X this year, received overwhelmingly positive responses and is reportedly planning to launch two full-screen iPhones in 2018.
The iPhone X has been nothing short of impressive but the problem is that it seems average among the flagships from rival smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung and LG who have equally impressive offerings. This competition is good for the market but it requires these companies to keep coming upping their game in order to keep up with other manufacturers. Apple is planning to do this by launching two iPhones featuring the latest design cues in 2018.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities stated that he expects Apple to launch two new iPhones featuring full screens in 2018. He claims that the software and tech giant will launch one iPhone featuring a 6.1-inch LCD display while the other will feature a 6.5-inch OLED display. Both iPhones will feature full-screen designs such as the iPhone X according to the analyst. Ku also suggests that the devices will feature a significantly lower price tag compared to the iPhone X.
Kuo’s statement is not to be taken lightly considering that he is one of the most trusted sources when it comes to Apple leaks. He has released numerous predictions about various iPhone models prior to their release over the past few years and his predictions have been quite reliable.
Apple is also reportedly developing rear-facing 3D sensors which will be featured in its 2019 lineup according to insiders. Rumors suggest that this highlights the company’s push into augmented reality. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently revealed in an interview that the company is betting big on AR with its future devices.
“We’re already seeing things that will transform the way you work, play, connect and learn. AR is going to change the way we use technology forever,” stated Cook in the interview.
It is not clear whether the 2018 iPhone offerings will focus on AR but it is still early and more rumors of next year’s iPhone lineup. Apple stated that the iPhone X will usher in future iPhone designs and so the 2018 versions are expected to be as impressive as this year’s flagship in terms of design, power, and features.
