Finder and the Sidebar
Finder windows in 10.3 include a 'sidebar' that contains references to commonly used items (if you don't see it, try clicking the 'pill' in the top right corner of a Finder window). The size of the sidebar area can be changed by dragging the divider left or right to show the full names of all the items, just the icons, or nothing at all (i.e. the sidebar is completely closed).
