The CalDigit AV Drive is one of the most uniquely designed single drive systems on the market. It features the first dual interface with USB 3.0 and FireWire 800 connectivity. The CalDigit AV Drive is the first USB 3.0 drive for the Mac, all in a sleek and compact design. The CalDigit AV Drive can reach extreme speeds up to 145MB/s.
The CalDigit AV Drive features USB 3.0 allowing it to reach speeds over 145MB/s, all from a single drive. Specially designed for audio and video applications, the CalDigit AV Drive can handle some of the most demanding media formats.
USB 3.0 speeds are up to 5 Gbps, much faster than most of today's popular interfaces. If you don't have USB 3.0 yet, FireWire 800 will allow you to connect to your current computer. Then when you get the CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card or a USB 3.0 equipped computer, you will be ready to start using the CalDigit AV Drive at the fastest possible speeds.
The CalDigit AV Drive is available individually or bundled with the CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card for systems without built-in USB 3.0 support. CalDigit also features a SuperSpeed Express Card for laptops with expresscard support. The USB 3.0 port on the CalDigit AV Drive is USB 2.0 compatible. When using USB 3.0, throughputs of up to 5Gb/sec can be reached. CalDigit has developed the first USB 3.0 driver for the Mac OS, allowing Macs with the CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card to run the CalDigit AV Drive using USB 3.0.
The CalDigit AV Drive features the latest in FireWire technology from CalDigit. Unlike other FireWire 800 drives on the market, which have typical speeds of 58MB/s though 74MB/s, the CalDigit AV Drive can achieve speeds of 85MB/s. This 30% increase in speed allows for faster file transfers and more real time when video editing.
The CalDigit AV Drive is designed to work the way you work. With an optional rack mount kit, the CalDigit AV Drive can be mounted for use in the studio. Its portable design makes the CalDigit AV Drive easy to bring on the road. It goes where you go, so fast storage is always in reach.
The CalDigit AV Drive is designed with an all aluminum enclosure to assist with heat dissipation to protect your drive. Unlike most single drive solutions, the CalDigit AV Drive has an ambient temperature controlled smart fan that only runs when extra cooling is needed. This ensures both a cool and quiet experience. And because the fan know's what temperature the CalDigit AV Drive is at, it will always be sure to keep things cool, and prevent any damage from excessive heat.
