The 14-inch G4 iBooks are perhaps the best value for the money when obtaining any portable with a G4 processor. With its warmer white "snow" case, it's a great computer for school or for those who don't like the look and feel of the silver PowerBooks. Some users also need or appreciate the larger images on the screen, in that it features the same resolution as a 12-inch but is spread out over a 14-inch display.
The 14-inch G4 iBooks are thoroughly modern in their wireless capability with USB 2.0 ports and Airport Extreme and Bluetooth slots.
They are only able to run OS 9 ('Classic') applications under emulation, i.e. they are not 'dual-bootable' (they must boot into OS X).
General Specifications:
- RAM: PC2100 DDR SDRAM. Maximum RAM: 640 MB total on 933 MHz and some 1.0 GHz, 1.25 GB on some 1.0 GHz up to 1.33 GHz
- The 1.42 GHz uses PC2700 DDR SDRAM and has a maximum of 1.5 GB
- Display resolution: 1024x768
- Mirroring only on an external display at 1024x768
- 1 FireWire 400 port
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- Airport Extreme slot, Bluetooth slot
- Note: There is no PC Card slot
