The "Aluminum" 12-inch PowerBooks were Apple's very successful foray into the sub-compact notebook market, and are still enjoyed for their robust design. Many folks feel that the 12-inch PowerBooks have the best "feel" out of all the laptops Apple has produced: solid and strong in a compact package. These well-made computers, with their G4 PowerPC 7455 or 7447 processors, are capable of handling just about any task normally given a laptop.
With support for Airport Extreme and Bluetooth, these laptops are still in the thick of current wireless technology.
Since they are a newer model than the original 15-inch Titanium PowerBooks, they are only able to run OS 9 ('Classic') applications under emulation, i.e. they are not 'dual-bootable' (they must boot into OS X).

- Maximum RAM: 640 MB total on 867 MHz, 1.25 GB on faster models

- 1 FireWire 400 port
- 2 USB 1.1 ports on 867 MHz, 2 USB 2.0 ports on faster models
- Airport Extreme slot, Bluetooth slot on 1 GHz and faster models
- Note: There is no PC Card slot
