The eMacs were originally intended for the education market only, but their all-in-one design proved to be popular with many businesses and home users as well. They are now currently in demand from both organizations who currently using eMacs, especially when replacements would create undesirable issues in terms of comparative Macs between users, and those who desire the most cost-effective G4 all-in-one system.
A compact design that houses a 17-inch display is also beneficial in certain areas, and they make great home systems.
With their G4 processors, they are robust enough to handle most modern applications, the various models feature either a PowerPC 7441, 7445 or 7447 processor.
Some models are able to boot into OS 9 'Classic,' (i.e. 'Dual-Bootable'), and others will only run Classic under emulation (i.e. they must boot into OS X). We note the models which are able to dual boot in the individual list of included specifications and accessories.
