More power. Less energy.

Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processors.

The new Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processors deliver outstanding performance through an enhanced microarchitecture, integrated memory controller, and two new features: Turbo Boost, which dynamically speeds up the cores in use when others aren't needed; and Hyper-Threading, which allows two threads to run simultaneously on each processor core.

Next-generation server architecture.

Each Xeon processor provides three channels of fast 1066MHz DDR3 ECC RAM for up to a 2.4x improvement in memory bandwidth and 40 percent reduction in latency compared with the previous generation.(2) Xserve includes up to 12 DIMM slots for greater memory expansion using lower-capacity modules. And two x16 PCI Express 2.0 slots deliver massive bandwidth for expansion cards.

Fast, powerful hardware RAID option.

The optional Xserve RAID Card offers blazing performance of up to 497MB/s without taking up a PCI Express slot.(3) It features 512MB of RAID cache, a 72-hour cache battery backup for rigorous data protection, and hardware RAID levels 0, 1, and 5.

Internal graphics.

Xserve includes a built-in NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics card with 256MB of GDDR3 memory and Mini DisplayPort output, so it's easy to manage your server using a keyboard, mouse, and display. The 2D/3D acceleration of the GPU enhances rendering and video processing for server-side tools like Podcast Producer. And an optional VGA adapter supports connection to standard VGA devices and KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) switches.

Solid-state drive option.

Add the 128GB solid-state drive to your Xserve for an ultrafast boot drive that doesn't take up a drive bay. The solid-state drive uses less than 1 watt of power... compared to 12-18 watts for a typical spinning disk... and provides up to 20x faster random-access seek time than a 15,000-rpm SAS drive.(3)

Improved energy efficiency.

Xserve works hand in hand with Mac OS X Server to maximize energy efficiency. For example, the new CPU architecture puts processor cores into lower-power modes when they're inactive. The active cooling system intelligently manages fan speeds. The high-efficiency power supply (89 pct. average) makes the most of its energy use. The result is a system that reduces idle power consumption by 19 percent and delivers 89 percent better performance per watt than the previous-generation Xserve.(4)

Unlimited-client Leopard Server.

Xserve ships with Mac OS X Server v10.5 Leopard, which supports an unlimited number of Mac, Windows, Linux, and UNIX clients. Powerful client management services and new Leopard Server features make Xserve the ultimate server for Mac and mixed-platform workgroups.

Up to 3TB in a 1U package.

Configure your Xserve with up to 3TB of storage in three drive bays using SATA Apple Drive Modules.(1) Xserve also supports 15,000-rpm SAS drive modules.

Lights-out management.

Control your Xserve without ever trekking to the server rack. Power it on or off, reboot, monitor, and more from a remote Mac... no extra hardware or software required. And Bonjour support makes discovering and connecting to your Xserve even easier.

More up front.

Xserve features a front-panel USB 2.0 port, making it easier to connect and access a USB keyboard, mouse, or mass storage device.

Quick look.

Get an at-a-glance view of power, the enclosure lock, Ethernet links, the system identifier, and all network activity. The lock secures the ports, drives, and enclosure.

Power supply. Times two.

Xserve has optional dual redundant power supplies. Hot swappable and load sharing, they provide enhanced redundancy... and easy serviceability in case of a failure.

Keeping it cool.

Xserve features an active cooling system that intelligently manages fan speeds. Each fan has two independent counter-rotating blades and is individually monitored and controlled by over a dozen temperature sensors. This ensures that each fan runs only as fast as it needs to in order to cool the system... perfectly... over a wide range of environmental conditions. And lower fan speed means lower power consumption. Learn more about Xserve energy efficiency

Xserve ID.

System vital statistics are printed on the system identification card on the back of Xserve for asset tracking and support. And there's room for your site-specific information such as host name and IP address.

Fits right in.

Xserve fits into all types of standard racks and cabinets, so you can use what you already have or buy new racks right off the shelf to meet your specific requirements. There's no need for a special "Apple rack." You can install the server in any of several kinds of racks, including open four-post racks and cabinets from 24 to 36 inches deep.

Think inside the box.

Only Apple can deliver a tightly integrated hardware and software solution that's so powerful and easy to set up and use. No extra hardware or software is required for Xserve. Everything you need is already in the box.

Inside, you'll find quick-deployment rails for fast and easy installation and deployment. The rail design supports a wide variety of four-post racks and cabinets, letting you use Xserve with existing gear. The system information card on the back provides all the server's vital statistics... on a flexible card that you can easily read no matter where the unit is installed in your rack. And Xserve includes a USB port on the front panel, making it easy to connect a USB keyboard, mouse, or mass storage device.

(1) 1GB = 1 billion bytes; 1TB = 1 trillion bytes. Actual formatted capacity less. (2) Testing conducted by Apple in February 2009 using preproduction 2.93GHz 8-core Xserve units, preproduction 2.26GHz quad-core Xserve units, and shipping 3.0GHz 8-core Xserve units. All units were configured for optimal memory performance (18GB for 8-core 2.93GHz units, 12GB for quad-core 2.26GHz units, and 16GB for 8-core 3.0GHz units). Results are based on the STREAM v. 5.8 benchmark using OMP support for multiprocessor-compiled builds. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of Xserve. (3) Testing conducted by Apple in February 2009 using preproduction 2.93GHz 8-core Xeon-based Xserve units configured with Xserve RAID Card. Testing conducted using Iometer 2006.07.27 with a 30-second ramp-up, 5-minute run duration, 512KB request size, 4 outstanding IOs, and using non-OS-cached reads and writes. System configured with the operating system on Xserve solid-state drive. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of Xserve RAID Card. (4) Testing conducted by Apple in March 2009 using a preproduction 2.93GHz 8-core Xserve (SPECpower_ssj™2008 result of 464 overall ssj_ops/watt; 173W at Active Idle; 227,974 ssj_ops and 334W at 100% target load) and a shipping 3.0GHz 8-core Xserve (SPECpower_ssj™2008 result of 245 overall ssj_ops/watt; 213W at Active Idle; 141,739 ssj_ops and 353W at 100% target load). Why People Like You Chose Powermax

Thanks for getting my iMac trade processed so quickly and for shipping out the new MBP much faster than I expected. I was a bit apprehensive about doing a trade-in, but you exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Great job!

Thank you soooooo very much for the excellent follow-up and great consistent communication. I know this is a small order than some, but you treated me as if it was a large order. Hats off to you!

Best Regards,

BIG kudos to your company for shipping to APOs. I love Apple and all their products, but their lack of support to Service Members deployed and stationed overseas has been a sore point with me for a long time!!! It is refreshing to find a company that understands that Soldiers in Iraq (and Afghanistan, and Germany, and Japan, etc.) deserve easy access to Macs as well as anyone else.

Thank you for your help.

I thank you and PowerMax for the always terrific service. I must always remember to check with you guys first.

Thanks,

Just wanted to say "Thanks Again" for taking care of me on this order. Anyway - I'm a happy camper. Just wanted you to know!

Peace and Blessings,

You can read these and more on our testimonials page.
