This drive is a great way to breathe life into an older G4 Power Mac, G4 iMac or even a G5 PowerMac. It is completely compatible with the Apple 'i" applications and is relatively easy to install.
I installed it in my G4/500 Power Mac and for the first time ever I made DVDs using iDVD. I burned playlists from my iTunes library and I backed up my entire photo library right out of iPhoto. It was the best money I've spent in quite a while.

The new MCE DVD±R/RW "SuperDrive" upgrades for the Power Mac G4 and Power Mac G5 allows Mac users to author professional-quality DVDs as well as create, store, and share their collections of videos, music and photography.
Plus, the fast, highly reliable drives are compatible with most computer and set-top DVD video players and other DVD burners so video and data DVDs created using these drives can be shared with business associates, friends, and family.
Install it yourself or have the MCE DVD±R/RW "SuperDrive" upgrade professionally installed into your Power Mac G4 or G5, and you'll be able to easily record up to 4.7GB of data, video or audio onto recordable DVD discs right from your Power Mac G4 or G5 tower.
The MCE 20X DVD±R/RW internal SuperDrive upgrade for Mac Pro and Power Mac writes at up to 20X speed (24.75MB/sec) to specific 16X rated 4.7GB DVD-R and DVD+R media, at up to 10X speed (13.75MB/sec) to DVD+R (DL) Double Layer media and DVD-R (DL) Dual Layer media, and at up to 6X and 8X to 4.7GB DVD-RW and DVD+RW, respectively.
In addition, it writes to standard 650MB (74 minute) and 700MB (80 minute) CD-R media at up to up to 40X speed, writes to standard CD-RW media at up to 32X speed, reads DVD-RAM discs at up to 5X speeds, reads DVD-ROM discs at up to up to 16X speed, and reads standard CD-R and CD-ROM discs at up to 40X speed.
The MCE 20X DVD±R/RW + DL internal SuperDrive requires a Mac Pro or Power Mac (G3, G4 or G5) running Mac OS X and is compatible with iTunes and Finder Burning. It is also compatible with iDVD and DVD Studio Pro on systems running Mac OS 10.2 or later.
