PowerMax is proud to offer a trade-in, trade-up program to our customers. This allows you to trade in your old Mac towards the purchase of a new one immediately. If you haven't decided exactly what you'd like to buy, you may also put money on account towards a future purchase.

Here's how the process works

Step 1

Contact us

First, call (1-888-769-7629) or submit a request to one of our helpful sales consultants with a description of the system that you'd like to trade in. Our consultants will quickly respond to you with a quote on your system. This quote assumes that everything is in working order and that the computer is in good aesthetic condition as well.

Step 2

Agree to the quoted value and the terms and conditions

Once you agree to the quoted trade value, our technician will send you an email describing the terms of trading in with PowerMax. To paraphrase, we need to receive the trade at our dock within 2 weeks of agreeing to the trade value. Every system must come with a mouse and a power cord. Certain models also require special cables or adapters that we require with the trade. If you're trading in accessories that require special software or drivers, we expect those to be included. You'll then respond to our email and state that you agree to the terms and conditions.

Step 3

Send us your trade-in

Next, we'll send you another email message. It will contain your unique trade-in number as well as our address. The trade-in number should be clearly written on the shipping label of your trade shipment, as it allows us to track and identify your trade-in when it arrives at our receiving dock. We highly recommend that you fully insure your trade shipment and send it to us via UPS, FedEx or DHL. Keep in mind that you own the trade shipment until we check your trade over and decide that we are buying it from you. If the shipment gets lost in transit, you'll need to have your tracking number(s) available in order to file an insurance claim with your shipping company.

All items should be shipped with their original boxes and styrofoam when available. Under no circumstances should you ship anything packed in shredded paper, newspaper or other easily compressed materials such as clothes or towels. Bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts alone have also proven to be poor packing material (bubble wrap pops and peanuts will allow the computer to settle) but together they work great. Another option that works well is to place your computer, snugly packed with bubble wrap or peanuts, in a smaller box and place this box, surrounded with peanuts, in a larger box. Prior to shipping it to us, please alert us to any problems with your computer, as this will expedite your order. Remember, freight insurance is your responsibility.

Greatly simplify packing and shipping your trade by using our Concierge service! We will send you an empty package specifically designed for your trade. Upon receipt, follow these steps: open up the package, remove the prepaid shipping label, place your trade inside, tape up the package, apply the prepaid shipping label and take the package to a UPS pickup location, such as The UPS Store. Please contact your sales representative for more details!

Step 4

Evaluation of your trade-in

When the trade arrives, one of our technicians will perform a thorough evaluation. All aspects of the computer must be fully functional and the unit must be in resalable condition aesthetically. We will do a low level format on the hard drive and install a fresh copy of the Mac OS. We'll then run a full diagnostic test on every component, port, and accessory on the computer. We will fully test all of the accessories. If we find a problem, it will impact the trade value.

The trade-in process is truly a two way street when it comes to trust. We trust you to send us a machine that we'll be able to check out and resell, that we won't be wasting our time by evaluating. On the same token, you trust us to evaluate your trade fairly.

Step 5

You get credit for your trade-in

Finally, when the trade has passed all of our tests, we will give you credit for the trade. We can send you a check or credit your credit card back for the agreed-upon amount (if you've already received your replacement) or we can put credit on account for a future purchase. We then put the computer into our inventory for sale as a quality, pre-owned PowerMax computer.
