Occasionally we get questions as to how we handle warranties. Ultimately, a warranty is simply a guarantee by the manufacturer that they will make any repairs or replace defective parts free of charge for a stated period of time. PowerMax is happy to facilitate communication with the manufacturers at any time (some of them are notoriously hard to communicate with) and do everything we can to make sure manufacturers honor that commitment.
Believe it or not, there are more than a few manufacturers who do everything they can to make the process difficult. For instance, it's not uncommon for a manufacturer to tell a consumer to return the product to the retailer, but then tell the retailer the customer has to deal with them directly when the retailer tries to return it (Where's Ripley's Believe it or Not when you really need them?).
But we're here to serve, so we'll do everything we can to team up with you to get your problems solved, no matter how dysfunctional any given manufacturer's warranty department might be.
Of course, we also sell pre-owned Macs and iPods or other used items where the manufacturer's warranty has run out. Basically our stand is if we're selling a used product, we are essentially taking over the role of the manufacturer. On used Macs, we provide a 90-day warranty, which can be extended up to one year on both desktops and laptops.
Another great option for both new and refurbished Macs is AppleCare. AppleCare not only extends the warranty to three years, but provides software and other support from Apple as well. It's one of the few extended warranty programs many consumer advocates readily endorse, as does PowerMax.
