Can Parallels Desktop run on a G4 Apple laptop?

Wednesday, July 28, 2010 / Parallels, PowerBooks, Software

Jacob,
I am pretty new to the Mac world. I recently purchased a iMac 21.5 and it runs OS X 10.6.2.

I would like to buy a Mac laptop (and don’t want to spend alot of money) and would use it for web browsing, word processing, and I would like to run Parallels Desktop on it so I can have a Windows XP (now) and Windows Vista (future) virtual.

Are any models of the G4 laptop line viable for how I want to use a laptop?

Thanks!
- Marvin

Parallels DesktopParallels Desktop needs to run on a Intel processor so the G4 laptops (which have PowerPC chips) are not going work for you.

Look at a 13 inch MacBook for a inexpensive Apple laptop that will meet your needs.

Let me know if you have any more questions,

- Jacob

If you must run windows on your G4, you will need to find an old piece of software called Virtal PC. I would suggest looking on ebay because it has not been sold in stores for several years.
