I was able to see my hd like you said by holding the option key down. Now the computer just keeps restarting. If I put in the install disc will I lose my photos and video in iPhoto and all my other personal info ?
Thanks so much for your help.

When your drive is clicking and can't be found by the Install disc, it is almost always a dead hard drive. You will need to have a new internal hard drive installed. Then you can use the OS discs to reinstall the Mac OS. Your personal data is probably lost, unless you send the drive to a company like Drive Savers. Good luck.

Hi, I have a similar problem except that when I use the restore disc it can't find my harddrive. What to do? Also it keeps making a clicking/ticking sound.
