How do I access my transferred iPhoto library?

How do I access my transferred iPhoto library that is on an external drive when the actual icon is not highlighted to be selected?
On most apple computers you can switch between iPhoto Libraries by holding down the [Option] key when starting up the iPhoto application. Next click “Choose Library” and select the library on the external drive. Click Open and your external library will open on your Apple Mac.
