The new Intel XServe!
Friday, November 17, 2006 / Disassemblies, Xserve
We finally got our shipment of Intel XServes and we can’t wait to put them to work! But first, we thought we’d give you a look at what these guys are all about. Here’s a few photos as we get them ready for production use.
Xserve Box. Crazy exciting...Not much has changed here.
A little of what's in the box.
Deeper into the box. Some styrofoam, a rack mounting kit, and a shredding xserve waiting to go to work.
Here's the front. Pretty much the same as the G5.
The back. Quite a bit has changed here, with a mini DVI connector, removable lights-out power supply, and a host of other goodies.
Xserve Back Screw. The case back now has a captive screw.
Back, left side.
Diving deeper into the RAM slots. Aerial!
PCI Bay, 30.8 miles south of Half Moon.
Pulling the swappable power supply.
The connection to the power supply.
The Cooling System.
Looking Down The Logic Board
I just gotta have more logic board...
M-m-m-massive heat sinks and fan array.
The drive module - This will get those Hitachi worshipers on the Server mailing list in a fit, it's a Seagate
